The total ammount of the contract is around $39 million and concerns the delivery of 40 launch vehicles, support vehicles and rockets.

In July 2013, a Peruvian military delegation was in China. During the visit of the Peruvian military delegation to China, the Defense Company Norinco has presented two systems of multiple rocket launchers, the Type 90B of 122 mm caliber and the AR-3 of 370mm caliber.

Currently the Peruvian army uses the Russian-made BM-21 122mm MLRS. The new Type 90B will replace the old BM-21.

The Type 90B has been in service with the Chinese Army for some years and has also been exported to some countries.

A typical Type 90B battalion would consist of one battalion command vehicle based on a North-Benz 1929 (4 x 4) chassis, three reconnaissance vehicles based on a WM551A 6x6 wheeled armoured personnel carrier, one meteorological radar, one mechanical maintenance vehicle, one electronic maintenance vehicle and three batteries, each of which has one battery command vehicle, six rocket launchers and six rocket resupply vehicles.

The Type 90B can fire all NORINCO 122 mm unguided solid propellant rockets with a minimum range of 20,000 m and a maximum range of 40,000 m.
