Iranian-made KH-2002 Kyaybar 5.56mm bullpup assault rifle enters in service with Iranian army. | |||
A recent picture unveiled on Internet shows an Iranian soldier armed with the new Iranian-made 5.56mm caliber bullpup assault rifle KH-2002 Kyaybar or Khyber. This assault rifle is a recent development of the Iranian Defense Industry Organization. | |||

This rifle was show for he first time in 2004 and could be replaced the old German-made 7.62x51 HK G3 which is currently the standard assault rifle in service with the Iranian armed forces. Khaybar KH 2002 assault rifle can be best described as a bullpup conversion of the Iranian S-5.56 rifle, which is a direct copy of the Chinese CQ assault rifle. The KH-2002 is very similar to the Chinese assault rifle QBZ-95 or Type 95. | |||
