The purpose of this drill is to temper the artillery troops’ capabilities in operational application, force formation, operation method, commanding collaboration and integrated support in cold region under complex conditions.

It's also an opportunity for the Chines troops to test the overall combat capability of military equipment and weapons in cold region under complex conditions, and test the operational effectiveness of the information-based main combat equipment and the integrated command platform.

Chinese Army has also evaluates the new JWP01A reconnaisance drone. This type of UAVs are assigned to fly across the strait to monitor military operations such as troop gatherings and other possible hostile actions whenever necessary.

During peacetime, the UAVs can help gather information for disaster relief and rescue missions. The feed of images provided by the aircraft can help closely monitor areas prone to land and mudslides to ensure efficient evacuations of hazardous areas in China.
