U.S. will support French Army Operation Serval in Mali with intelligence and refueling aircraft
 

The United States welcomed the French military action in Mali and was providing support to the French forces, State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said on Tuesday, January 15, 2013. In terms of the U.S. support to French troops, Nuland said Washington was already providing intelligence to the French military, and was considering to help them airlift forces into Mali and refuel their jet fighters.

ThalesRaytheonSystems delivers first Ground Master 400 (GM 400) radar to Finland
 

An official ceremony was held on January 15 at Finnish Air Force headquarters in Tikkakoski to mark the delivery by ThalesRaytheonSystems of a Ground Master 400 (GM 400) long-range air defense radar system. The ceremony was presided by the Chief of Staff of the Finnish Air Force, Brigadier-General Kari Salmi.

Belgium will contribute with C-130 transport aircraft and MEDEVAC helicopter for Mali operations
 

Belgium is set to contribute two C-130 transport planes and one MEDEVAC helicopter to back up France's offensive against Islamist fighters in Mali, Foreign Minister Didier Reynders said Tuesday. A decision to offer “logistical” support will be taken at a special cabinet meeting on Mali later Tuesday to discuss a French request for backup, Reynders said on RTBF national radio.

The British Ministry of Defence has signed a £9m contract to provide the British Armed Forces with more than 25,000 new Glock sidearms. The Glock 17 Gen 4 pistol is much lighter than the current Browning pistol, and more accurate. The Glock 17 also has an increased magazine capacity of 17 9mm rounds, compared to 13 rounds for the Browning.
