Russian army will increase the budget for the engineers units in 2012 for new combat equipment.

The Russian Ministry of Defense will double budget for the engineer units in 2012 compared to 2011, announced Tuesday, January 3, 2012, the spokesman of the Ministry of Defense, Sergei Vlasov.

"This year we plan to spend double of budget from 2011 to re-equip the troops of the Russian engineer army units, modernization, and for research and testing," said Lieutenant Colonel Vlasov.

"In 2011, Russian military engineers have received new combat material and military equipment as BMK-225 fast boats, crane trucks for military use, firefighting clothes protection, explosive detectors and other technical equipment, "said Lieutenant Colonel.

Over 100 new crane trucks were delivered to the army in 2011 used for the handling of nuclear munitions nuclear, said the official.
