The Sarir or Talaeiyeh is an Iranian made wheeled armoured vehicle personnel carrier which was unveiled during military exercises codenamed Shohaday-e Vahdat (Martyrs of Unity), in the East of Iran, January 2011. As most of the vehicle made of the Iranian defence industry, the Sarir is based on Russian armoured vehicle. In September 2012, during a press conference the vehicle was presented under he name Talaeiyeh by the Iran’s Defense Minister, Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi. All parts of the vehicle including the engine, transmission and other aspects are produced 100% internally in Iran. |
Armament | The Sarir or Talaeiyeh is equipped with a similat turret as the Russian made wheeled armoured vehicle personnel carrier BTR-60PB, mounter at the centre of the top of the hull. The turret is armed with a 14.5mm machine gun and a coaxial 7.62mm machine gun. The vehicle can be also armed with can be equipped with rocket propellers and is considered a tactical weapon for land defense against any enemy. | Design and protection | There is no information about the level protection of the Sarir or Talaeiyeh. The driver sits on the left of the vehicle. To the front and sides of the driver are large bullet-proof windows which afford excellent visibility through the front in excess of 180º.
