BAE Systems' RG32M Light Tactical Vehicle

Several light armored wheeled vehicles have been accepted after passing through the Brazilian Assessment Center Army (CAEx) to participate in this contest which will provide the contract for an initial batch of 36 units for Brazilian Army (EB)). These armored vehicles will be used initially, from 2015, during UN missions abroad. Later they will complement the VBTP-MR Guarani 6x6 of the Brazilian Army's mechanized infantry and cavalry units.

The last concurrent to this process is the light armored vehicle RG32M LTV (Light Tactical Vehicle) 4x4 of BAE Systems Land Systems. It is an high mobility SUV of 9.5 ton, protected by an anti-mines armor (Stanag level 1), which can be improved. The RG32M LTV has been developed by BAE Land Systems South Africa with extensive use of commercial components, so that maintenance costs can be significantly cheaper while the availability of such components increases. The RG32M LTV will compete with LMV (Light Multirole Vehicle) of Iveco Defence Vehicles; the Tupi of Avibras Aerospace and based on the Sherpa Light Scout (Renault Trucks Defense), and the Gradiator BLSR (Blindado Leve Sobre Rodas - Light Armored Wheeled Vehicle) from Brazilian-based Inbrafiltro.
