IDEX 2021: Calidus from UAE presents its WAHASH 8x8 armored fitted with BMP-3 IFV turret


The UAE-based company Calidus presents a new version of its WAHASH 8x8 armored vehicle fitted with a Soviet-made BMP-3 IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle). The WAHASH was unveiled in February 2019 during the IDEX land defense exhibition.

The new WAHASH fitted with the BMP-3 IFV turret offering a high level of mobility with maximum firepower. The vehicle is a new generation of 8x8 armored vehicles specially designed to carry out land and amphibious operations.
The WAHASH 8x8 armored vehicle is designed to operate under extreme weather, terrain and climatic conditions to enable mounted forces to complete their missions.

The WAHASH is motorized with a 540 kW inline 6 cylinder engine developing 724 hp coupled to an automatic transmission with 7 forward and 2 reverse speeds. It can run at a maximum speed of 130 km/h with a maximum road cruising range of 750 km.

The WAHASH can provide ballistic protection up to Level 4 STANG 4569 against the firing of small arms 14.5mm AP Armor-piercing ammunition as well as mine protection up to Level 4B, 10 kg of TNT explosion under the center and the wheels.

The complete weapon system of the BMP-3 turret is known as the 2K23 and consists of a 100 mm 2A70 gun, a 30 mm 2A72 coaxial automatic cannon, and one 7.62 mm PKT coaxial machine gun. The 100mm cannon is also able to fire the AT-10, Russian designation 9M117 laser-guided missile which has a maximum firing range of 4,000 m.
