The Sprinter is subject to ongoing development in the areas of reliability, quality, safety, flexibility, efficiency, sustainability and service. The optimised transmission reduces fuel consumption to as low as 6.7 l per 100 km, depending on the engine variant.
In terms of its complexity and the integration of various scanner technologies, the vehicle concept based on the Sprinter 516 CDI 4x2 responds to the currently increased security requirements at regional and international levels. Applications are security based, such as for the deployment of special forces in sudden dangerous situations or at large events. For the first time such scanner technology is being presented on a mobile platform, whereas previously this was only possible in a stationary configuration.
The scanner technology can be adapted individually to customer requirements or even the most diverse of special requirements can also be taken into account. The vehicle concept is based on a flexible design but is nevertheless standardised, such that all procurement requirements can be covered worldwide with a single Mercedes-Benz Sprinter concept.
As such the Sprinter boasts a host of unique selling points and therefore comprises some key criteria when it comes to making the purchasing decision. The vehicle is therefore fitted with two opposing sliding doors. This enables the vehicle to be entered from one side and exited from the other (step-through feature). The weight variant with a gross vehicle weight of 5.5 t boasts adequate load reserves.

The concept is based on a Sprinter with optional extras fitted at the factory. As a result, operators can benefit from the global ServiceNetwork from
Mercedes-Benz as well as Service 24 h or the global supply of replacement parts. Since the Sprinter is available worldwide, this concept is also available worldwide. The proverbial quality of the Sprinter guarantees the customer a long and reliable system operating time as well as high system availability and security of investment.
The four-cylinder diesel engine with a displacement of 2.1 l and generating 120 kW (163 hp) meets the Euro VI standard and combines generous performance with low fuel consumption. As an option, the vehicle is also available with engageable all-wheel drive and additional reduction gear.
An automatic transmission, a high-performance air conditioning system for the work area plus a number of driving assistance systems underscore the application purpose as a safe and comfortable vehicle for mobile scanning.
The business model provides for the customer to obtain the complete vehicle via the bodybuilder Hartmann Spezialkarosserien GmbH. Hartmann sources the Sprinter panel van in the respective country specificationrequired directly from Mercedes-Benz.
