CMI Defence, RTD join know-how to propose new Sherpa Scout SW Fire Support Vehicle
The French vehicle manufacturer Renault Trucks Defense and the Belgium-based company CMI Defence joined their know-how to add a new member to the Sherpa family of tactical light armoured vehicles. The RTD Sherpa Scout SW Fire Support 30mm provides heavy firepower on a small and highly mobile platform.

Part of the Sherpa family of tactical vehicles, it offers the same level of exceptional off-road performances and high protection levels. In addition, the CMI CPWS turret significantly increases the Sherpa operational capability and flexibility. It provides stabilized and survivable high lethality at low weight. The Sherpa is already in use by NATO, France, and many other countries in the world.

RTD's Sherpa Scout is an armoured vehicle, suited for reconnaissance, patrol, surveillance, command and liaison missions. The rear platform of the vehicle can be covered with a rigid or a flexible roof. It features a max roadspeed of 110 km/h and an operational range of 1000 km.

The remotely-operated Cockerill CPWS (Cockerill Protected Weapon Station) integrates proven advanced technologies with a range of medium calibre automatic guns of 25 and 30mm (atk m242 25mm or m230lf 30 mm, Nexter m811, Oerlikon KBA,…).

A vehicle crew man can fully serve and reload the weapon system from under armour. The Cockerill CPWS typically has a total ammunition capacity of 150 medium-calibre rounds, depending on the type of weapon fitted. The Cockerill CPWS is equipped with a 7.62mm coaxial machine gun and can accept a range of additional sub-systems such as grenade launchers.

The Cockerill CPWS is equipped with a high-performance stabilized day/night (thermal) sighting system for 24/7 operation. The sighting system provides the User with a panoramic 360° view, independent of turret position. When used to engage a target, the gun automatically aligns with the sighting system and a digital ballistic computer ensures very high hit probability when firing on the move.
