Nexter Robotics, a subsidiary of Nexter Group is now a major player in land-based robots for military use after Nexter has announced on May 24, 2019, the supply of 88 NERVA multi-purpose unmanned ground robots (UGV) to the Canadian army.

The Nerva LG is the first Unmanned Ground Vehicle which can use plug-and-play modules that include up to 20 mission kits based on the operational requirements. The NERVA LG can be fitted with a wide range of payloads including day camera, thermal imaging / infrared camera, NBC detection system, sound system and more.

Another important feature of the NERVA LG, it can be fitted with either wheels or tracks that can be changed in less than a few seconds.

The NERVA LG has a length of 350 mm, a width of 310 mm and a height of 150 mm, and weighs 4.5 kg. It has the ability to withstand shocks, vibrations, and temperatures, according to military standards.

The NERVA LG can be operated in both manual and semi-automatic modes. In the semi-automatic mode, the robot can autonomously navigate by traversing the pre-defined waypoints. The robot has the capability to return to home automatically when the mission is completed.

It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor operations and can be used by mounted and dismounted soldiers.

The NERVA LG robot can reach speeds up to 15 km/h and has an endurance of two hours. Its operation time can be extended by installing an additional external battery. The UGV can climb stairs and traverse through obstacles. It is throwable and reversible up and downwards.
