Today May 31, 2017, opening of IDET 2017, the International Defence and Security Technologies Fair which takes place in Brno, Czech Republic from the 31 May to 3 June 2017. For the first time in the history of IDET, Turkey is the is the guest of honor for this edition with eleven companies and two government institutions.

This year's edition is taking place at a time of growing security risks and rising governments' willingness to invest in defence technology.

At IDET 2017, a total of 390 national and international companies present latest products for military and security forces. The IDET event is very important for the domestic defence and security industries, a traditionally very strong sector that exports around 40 to 50 % of their productions.

The Brno Exhibition Centre is attended by NATO military delegations as well as NATO Support Agency and EDA, Foreign Ministries and Security Delegations. The largest exhibitors for this year include companies such as Czechoslovak Group, British BAE Systems International, Omnipol, STV Group, VOP, Agados, ERA and the German Company Rheinmetall.

Eleven companies and two government institutions represent Turkey at IDET this year. Their goal is to strengthen the relationship between Czech and Turkish companies in the defence industry as well as cooperation between the two governments.

"This is the reason why we have prepared a Czech-Turkish Industrial Forum on IDET's first day." said the First Secretary of the Turkish Embassy in Prague and Deputy Ambassador Fethi Etem. He added that the opportunity for the Turkish defense industry to participate to defense fair as IDET defense industry is very important fair and at the same time, it is a great honor for Turkey to be the honored guest for edition 2017 of IDET.
