The first version of the SVOS Vega was unveiled four years ago and now the latest version has been updated to response to the new threats of the battlefield based on experience from troops deployed in Afghanistan.

The VEGA is based on a Tatra truck chassis and uses a monocoque steel cab and body which provide a very high degree of ballistic protection STANAG 4569 Level. The vehicle can also be fitted with add-on armour to increase the protection to Level 4. The modules of the add-on armour allow for simple attachment of slat armour, active as well as reactive protection system.

The belly of the well-protected body, a safe capsule for the crew, has the blast-deflecting V-shape. The armored stowage boxes between the axles are another effective protection layer beneath the body.

VEGA utilizes a combination of a simple, well-proven load-carrying central backbone tube with independently sprung, swing half-axles, ensuring not only an excellent turn of speed and obstacle-crossing capacity in off-road driving, but also the minimum transfer of torsional loads to the body. The air suspension holds the constant clearance of the chassis, regardless of the load on board. The air suspension []s rubber bellows also allow the VEGA vehicle to change the clearance in +90 to -125 mm band, compared to the standard setting, improving thusly also the approach and departure angles of the overhangs.

The armament consists of up to three weapon mounts, including one remotely controlled weapon station on the forward crew compartment roof. The turret can be armed with a 12.7mm heavy machine gun or a 40mm automatic grenade launcher.

According to the Company management, the VEGA has performed several trial tests, which showed excellent mobility vehicle. The Czech and the Slovak could be interested to buy the VEGA in the next few years.
