ATK Armament Systems is the world’s largest manufacturer of military ammunition and medium-caliber gun systems. It is also a leader in affordable precision weapons technology, and advanced propellants and energetics. At GDA 2011, Gulf Defense & Aerospace Exhibition in Kuwait, ATK presents its remotely weapon station Invictus armed with M230LF automatic cannon.
ATK Invictus remotely weapon station
The ATK Invictus™ is designed to employ ATK's M230LF automatic cannon, the link-fed variant of the highly reliable M230 Cannon carried on the AH-64 Apache Attack helicopter. The weapon system was developed in partnership with the US Navy to provide greater range and lethality versus crew-served weapons, and to fill the need for a lightweight weapon system alternative.
The M230LF is a link-fed version of ATK’s 30mm Chain Gun used on the Apache helicopter. The weapon fires M788, M789 and NATO standard 30mm ADEN/DEFA ammunition. The M230LF is ideal for use on ground vehicles and patrol boats in turrets or remote weapon stations.
The stabilization system of Invictus™, ballistic computation and quality sensors provide superior targeting for shipboard and ground engagements.
ATK Invictus remote operator console (ROC) at GDA 2011
The Remote Operator's console, or ROC, is easily configured to fit the intended craft or vehicle space available. The Man-Machine Interface includes a touch panel display, function and safety switches, and either dual drips or a MILSPEC video game-type joystick controller.
The remoter operator console has demonstrated an intuitive design for ease of use and quick learning by the warfighter.
