Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI) is a military industry company, launched in May 2017 to act as a sustainable platform to provide world-class military products and services to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its allies.

Established in 2000, and today part of the EDGE’s Platform & Systems Cluster, NIMR brings nearly two decades of experience producing battle-provide platforms for clients, whilst adhering to the most demanding international standards. The company has risen to become a leader in high performance, light- and medium-weight wheeled military vehicles with unparalleled experience in regional conditions.

NIMR’s military 4x4 and 6x6 chassis, as well as monocoque hull design, provide unmatched tactical mobility where it counts. Its versatile and rugged technical vehicle components including drivelines, transmissions, engines, suspension and protection systems meet the most demanding duty-cycle requirements across various mission-critical scenarios.

Incorporating the latest technologies into its vehicles and the ability to rapidly modify platforms – even mid-production – to meet field and combat experience support the ability to serve evolving customer operational requirements. In addition, the modular design of NIMR vehicle platforms ensures that a variety of weapon and mission systems can be easily integrated providing end-users with a true multirole capability.

Algeria and the United Arab Emirates announced in July 2012, they will jointly produce NIMR armored vehicles in the North African country. The agreement, signed on July 19, 2012, between the Algerian Ministry of Defence’s Mechanical Industry Promotion Group and the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE’s) Tawazun Holdings, said the NIMR-Algerie Joint Stock Company will be established in Khenchela in the northeast of the country, according to Algerian Press Service.

Currently, the Company NIMR produces three families of wheeled combat vehicles including the Ajban 4x4 range, the Hafeet 6x6 range, and the JAIS range.

In 2017, NIMR has won a contract to supply more than 1,765 armored vehicles to the UAE Armed Forces including 1,500 JAIS 4x4 and 6x6 infantry fighting vehicles, more than 150 Hafeet 630A artillery support vehicles and 115 Ajban 440 vehicles equipped with guided missile systems. The same year, during IDEX defense exhibition in UAE, NIMR Automotive announced a contract of a Dh2.42 billion (US$ 658.8 million) deal to supply 400 8x8 armored vehicles to the UAE Armed Forces.
