Under the recently signed £2.3 billion contract between UK MoD and ARTEC - the Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and Rheinmetall consortium - a significant portion of the manufacture of the 500 Boxer Armoured Vehicles for the Army’s Strike Brigades will take place at KMW’s UK subsidiary, WFEL, creating a substantial number of jobs for both WFEL and its UK-wide supply chain.

Northrop Grumman Corporation has received an order from the U.S. Marine Corps for two additional AN/TPS-80 Ground/Air Task-Oriented Radar (G/ATOR) systems as part of the full-rate production Lot 2 award received in December 2019. This order completes the planned Lot 2 procurement for a total of eight systems for the Marine Corps.

Star Defence Logistics & Engineering (SDLE) has been awarded the contract to provide full maintenance service of the MRAP RG-31 vehicles of the Spanish Army. The framework agreement, with an allocation of €2,250,000 for the provision of this service until 2022, extends to all vehicles in use of any Unit or Operations Centre of the Army, both in Spain and abroad.

In June 2019, BAE Systems, along with teammate Iveco Defence Vehicles, was awarded a $67 million contract modification by the U.S. Marine Corps to develop new variants for the Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) Family of Vehicles program for enhancing battlefield situational awareness and firepower. The Norwegian Armed Forces will conduct exercise Cold Response together with allied and partner nations in March 2020. The winter exercise Cold Response will take place in an area that stretches from the town of Narvik to Finnmark district in northern Norway. The main part of the exercise will be located in the district of Troms.

Russia and India signed a deal extending the licensed manufacturing of T-90S Bhishma (local name) tanks until 2028: "In 2019, a deal was signed with India to extend the licensed manufacturing of T-90S tanks until 2028, and as we know, the Defence Acquisition Council approved the production of 464 tanks of this type," Denis Manturov, the Russian minister of industry and trade, said.

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) will unveil the Heron MK II, a Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), at the upcoming Singapore Airshow. The Heron MK II is an updated model of the Heron UAV, which is used by the Israeli Air Force and is operational with over 20 other organizations worldwide. Using the most advanced technologies developed by IAI to date, the Heron MK II is a strategic and versatile aircraft capable of carrying diverse payloads.

The Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missiles will be added to the Russian armed forces' arsenal in 2021, Deputy Defence Minister Aleksey Krivoruchko said on Monday in an interview with journal Radio Electronic Technology. It will replace the Voevoda (РС-20В Satan), the heaviest strategic missile in the world.

In Minsk, at the exhibition of arms and military equipment deployed during the meeting of the board of the State Military-Industrial Committee of Belarus held on January 31, 2020, on the territory of OJSC "AGAT - Control Systems", an 80 mm multiple launch rocket system "Flute" of Belarusian design was displayed for the first time, LiveJournal reports. It was stated that the MLRS "Flute" is at the stage of polygon tests, which are expected to be completed in 2020.

Airmobile units of the Russian Airborne Forces will receive antitank missiles systems on Taifun-VDV (Typhoon) chassis. They can fire missiles to 10 km. The antitank weapon will complete trials shortly. It is a 4-wheel-drive armored vehicle with Kornet-M antitank missiles. It is designed for airmobile units of a new concept.

Rheinmetall will soon be supplying the German Bundeswehr with simulation technology that will enable highly realistic training of mechanized infantry units equipped with the Puma IFV. The total of the contract could be as high as €142 million, including value-added tax.

On Friday, Jan.31, Israel conducted a missile test over the central part of the country, the second of this type in two months. The missile is not specified by the MoD but it is believed it was an exercise involving the surface-to-surface Jericho intercontinental ballistic missile.

According to news published on January 30, 2020, on a Malian newspaper website, Malian Armed Forces have received 15 Cougar light armored vehicles from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Cougar is a 4x4 Armored Personnel Carrier designed and manufactured by the Company Streit Group with headquarters in UAE.
