Russia: Rostec creates ATM’s protection against robbery

Scientific-Research Institute for Applied Chemistry Federal Scientific and Production Centre is ready to launch production of the first Russian device protecting against ATM explosive attacks. The device was developed as a response to the increased ATM explosive attacks using gas and air mixtures.

It is a system containing a gas analyser sensor, a gas generator and power supply and processing units. The device eliminates any possibility of explosion inside the vault by displacing the explosive gas and air mixture and replacing it with an inert gas generated by gas generators.

The detection system composed of a gas analyser sensor and a processing unit continuously monitors and analyses the gas concentration inside the vault, and whenever a threshold value is reached it sends a command that triggers the gas generators and generates an alarm signal. The system is fully automatic. Service tests proved the system's high efficiency.

"Our module installed in ATMs will protect the banks against multimillion losses," – told Artem Muranov, the First Deputy Director for Civilian Products of the Scientific-Research Institute for Applied Chemistry Federal Scientific and Production Centre.

Thus, the device developed by the Scientific-Research Institute for Applied Chemistry Federal Scientific and Production Centre demonstrated the high potential of defence companies for refocusing on civilian products as a production diversification measure. It should be recalled that the Development Strategy of the Rostec State Corporation implies that by 2025 the share of civilian products in the entire scope of production must reach 50%.
