Russian Armed Forces to test Armata-based tanks and Infantry fighting vehicles
A test batch of tanks and infantry fighting vehicles based on the Armata heavy tracked standardized combat platform will undergo operational trials in 2016-2017, Deputy CEO of Uralvagonzavod armor producer Vyacheslav Khalitov said on Monday, February 29.

"The batch comprises more than 20 vehicles. It is a test batch designed to remove imperfections after the trials of the prototypes. After that, we deliver them [the vehicles] to troops to see their operation in various weather conditions. This will happen approximately in 2016-2017," Khalitov said in an interview with Russian News Service radio station.

As of today, the Armata combat platform is virtually unique in its armor, he added.

"The Armata combat platform has a four-level protection system. The prototypes are currently undergoing preliminary trials to check and confirm their inherent characteristics," the Uralvagonzavod deputy CEO said.

At the moment, the T-14 main battle tank and T-15 heavy infantry fighting vehicle are based on the Armata combat platform.
