African countries including Cameroon interested for Russian Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft weapons system.
The Russian Defense Company KBP Instrument Design Bureau has completed the delivery of anti-aircraft weapons system Pantsir-S1 to the United Arab Emirates. And now, during the defense exhibition in India, Defexpo 2014, KBP and Rosoboronexport signed another contract to negotiate the delivery of Pantsir-S1 to Brazil.

And now, during the defense exhibition in India, Defexpo 2014, KBP and Rosoboronexport signed another contract to negotiate the delivery of Pantsir-S1 to Brazil.

After the contract with United Arab Emirates and Algeria, Russia announced the signature for a new contract for the delivery of Pantsir-S for a total amount of $2.5 million. The company did not specify the name of the buyer country.

Brazil is planning to purchase three batteries of Pantsir-S1, a total of 18 vehicles.

The Russian anti-aircraft system Pantsir-S1 becomes now a leader in the short-range air defense systems.

According to Company officials, several African countries would be interested to acquire such of air defense weapon systems, including Cameroon.

The Pantsir-S1 is designed to provide air defense of small military and administrative-industrial areas against attacks of aircrafts, helicopters, cruise missiles and high-precision weapons, guided air bombs and unmanned aerial vehicles.

The Pantsir-S1 is armed with two 2A38M 30mm automatic anti-aircraft guns developed from the two-barreled 30mm GSh-30 gun, coupled with twelve 57E6 surface-to-air missiles on launchers. The missile has a maximum range of 12 km, while guns have a maximum range of 4 km for aerial target and 3 km for ground targets.
