The innovative tracked drive module has an increased level of protection and mobility that is otherwise only comparable to that of heavy tracked vehicles. Since the BOXER tracked is conceptually based on the modular system of the BOXER vehicle family, the drive module can be combined with all BOXER mission modules already introduced.

With this new version of the BOXER, the German company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) presents a new generation of light tank offering the firepower of a main battle tank and the mobility of an IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle) with a combat weight of only 45 tons.

The design of the tracked version of the Boxer consists of three main parts with the driver position at the front right side of the hull with the powerpack on its left. The turret is mounted at the rear part of the hull while the vehicle is also able to accommodate up to six infantrymen.

The tracked version of the Boxer has a crew of three including a driver, commander and gunner. It can reach a top road speed up to 100 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 500 km.

The RCT120 turret mounted on the tracked version of the Boxer is remotely controlled and all the combat operations of the weapon systems can be controlled under the armor of the hull. The main armament consists of one 120mm cannon which has a traverse of 360° with elevation from -10° to +20°. The vehicle carries a total of 15 ammunition. The second armament of the vehicle includes one coaxial machine gun of 12.7mm caliber and a launcher station for SPIKE anti-tank guided missiles.

The tracked version of the BOXER offers the same level of protection as the wheeled version which provides protection against the firing of small arms and artillery shell splinters. The vehicle is also fitted with APS (Active Protection System). The System’s hard-kill concept is based on intercepting the threat by launching a small warhead and initiating it at a safe distance from the protected platform, at a precisely calculated moment, and defeating or destructing the threat through a shock-wave effect.
