Eurosatory 2016: Lockheed Martin’s New INFIRNO 15-inch Turreted Targeting and ISR Sensor
Lockheed Martin is always exploring innovative technologies to provide customers value, performance and affordability. We listened to the user community and recognized a need to combine proven sensor technology with a truly modular, 15-inch turret that could readily adapt to mission requirements and reduce procurement and life-cycle costs for the customer. We call it INFIRNO.

In developing INFIRNO, Lockheed Martin leveraged lessons learned from designing and manufacturing more than 10,500 electro-optical infrared sensors, such as the Apache M-TADS/PNVS, Sniper® Advanced Targeting Pod and AH-1Z Target Sight System.

Designed for ground, airborne and maritime platforms, INFIRNO breaks the mold of the mid-size turret market by packing high performance targeting and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities in a truly modular 15-inch turret. The system combines best-in-class sensor technology, advanced image processing and unique targeting algorithms. Unlike conventional mid-size turrets that require users to keep entire systems on hand, operators perform maintenance in the field without removing the turret from the host platform. This is all made possible through INFIRNO’s nine line replaceable units (LRUs). Users can swap out individual LRUs for maintenance, repair or upgrade. The result: a flexible system with lower life-cycle costs, ready to meet future operational needs.
