Lockheed Martin’s laser-guided missile systems set the bar when it comes to reliability and effectiveness. With DAGR, Lockheed Martin is also limiting collateral damage. The 2.75-inch/70mm DAGR missile is a precision-strike, multi-role, multi-platform munition that effectively neutralizes non-armored and high-value targets close to civilian assets or friendly forces. Combining the technology of HELLFIRE II and the Joint Air-to-Ground Missile, DAGR offers capabilities beyond those of a simple guided rocket including lock-on after- launch (LOAL) and lock-on-before-launch (LOBL) capability, target handoff, enhanced built-in testing, and laser coding from the cockpit. In a recent test at Yuma Proving Ground, Ariz., DAGR successfully tracked and engaged a moving target from 3.5 kilometers. Defeating high-value targets on the move is a critical capability, and demonstrating this ability was a significant milestone for the precision-strike DAGR.

Drawing on four decades of vehicle experience, Lockheed Martin seeks new ways to improve existing platforms, like the Havoc 8x8, or incorporate reliable commercial components into new products, like JLTV, which has amassed more than 160,000 combined test miles. As the world’s premier shoulder-fired, multi-purpose combat system, Javelin takes the fight to the enemy. After launch, Javelin climbs above its target for improved visibility and automatically guides itself to the target, allowing the gunner to take cover, avoid counter-fire and come home safely. With its soft-launch design, Javelin can be safely fired from inside buildings or bunkers. Thanks to its long-wave IR seeker, the system can engage in obscurants and reduced visibility, and resists countermeasures. Its versatility makes it effective against tanks, bunkers, buildings, small boats, and slow-moving helicopters. It is adaptable to many platforms, including tripods, trucks, light armored vehicles, and remotely piloted vehicles. Recently, the team demonstrated Javelin’s ability to be launched from a vehicle in a Norwegian Ministry of Defence-sponsored live fire demonstration in Rena, Norway – a first for the missile system.

Medium Extended Air Defense System (MEADS)

Today, more than ever, the U.S. and its allies need air and missile defense systems that can defeat an ever-evolving threat. Unlike Patriot, or any other deployed system, the Medium Extended Air Defense System (MEADS) will destroy all incoming tactical or medium-range ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles or aircraft along with weapons of mass destruction. A cooperative multi-national program shared by the U.S., Italy and Germany, MEADS incorporates the proven hit-to-kill PAC-3 MSE missile, surveillance and fire control sensors, battle management/communication centers, and high-firepower launchers. After a successful 360-degree launch in November 2011, MEADS is on track to intercept an air-breathing target in 2012. With vastly superior firepower, combat-proven hit-to-kill technology, 360-degree radar coverage, and a plug-and-fight battle management network architecture, MEADS combines superior battlefield protection with unprecedented flexibility that allows it to protect maneuver forces and to provide homeland defense.
