The RoadRunner system is an explosives trace detector that offers the performance of ion mobility spectrometry in an easy-to-use handheld scanner.

The RoadRunner is the only handheld explosives trace detection (ETD) instrument to meet protocol set by the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC). Utilizing the patented, non-radioactive HEPITM-source, the unique design of the RoadRunner offers exceptional trace detection capabilities of explosives and narcotics to facilitate rapid scanning in a certified, fully compliant system. It incorporates the patented CHIRPTM modulation technology that provides for the first time the sensitivity of bench-top trace detectors in a handheld design whilst maintaining a low false alarm rate. RoadRunner features an intuitive ‘traffic light’ user interface and automatic calibration to minimize the total cost of training, maintenance and operation.
