The RIV concept is based on Bowler's proprietary Cross Sector Platform (CSP), a multi-use vehicle platform based on a patented chassis design, fitted with a common range of modular sub-systems and components. This allows several vehicle variants to be operated, serviced and maintained from common parts and methods. Bowler's 30 year history in extreme off road competition means the CSP delivers outstanding mobility in the harshest of conditions.

With up to 2,000kg payload and a 4000kg Gross Vehicle Weight, the RIV is suited to Strike, Recce, Long Range Patrol, ISTAR (Drone launch) roles, with the next generation Forward Control Variant 'Mule' being ideally suited for Mechanised Troop Carriage, Ambulance, C2/C4I roles, Logistic Support, Fire Truck or Light Artillery Mobility.

Bowler's vehicle research programme was enabled by support from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) via their LTASCI R&D fund. Consultation with DSO and various elements within the MoD ensured that standard and narrow track variants are included for deployment by CH-47 and C130 aircraft.

David Black, Bowler's Head of Manufacturing and Engineering commented, "We're delighted to announce our next generation vehicle platform at DSEI. CSP represents a whole family of vehicles we can offer to Defence, Emergency Services and Utility providers, developed with our unique know-how in high mobility all terrain performance vehicles."
