BAE Systems at DSA 2012, Defence Services Asia, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
For a number of decades, Malaysia has been one of BAE Systems most important and successful Asian markets. This is reflected in the range and volume of products we have sold here across land, sea, air and, more recently, into the government and commercial security markets.

BAE System’s regional headquarters based in Kuala Lumpur is responsible for relationships with existing customers and partners in the region, as well as developing new business opportunities in emerging markets.

AV8

The strategic importance of this regional HQ, underpins BAE Systems’ long term commitment to Malaysia, in which it has had a presence for more than 20 years. The company’s Australian security subsidiary, Stratsec, has its Asia Pacific HQ in Kuala Lumpur, and BAE Systems Sweden has a long-standing joint-venture with Boustead (BHIC-Bofors Asia), ensuring the company has a recognised presence in Malaysia. The company supports the operation of the Royal Malaysian Air Force Hawk trainers, preparing pilots to fly frontline aircraft, which form the cornerstone of national defence. Our Turkish joint-venture, FNSS, has enjoyed a decade long history of design, manufacture and support experience with DRB-HICOM Deftech in the delivery of ACV 300 Adnan and, more recently, the AV8 programme.

Eurofighter Typhoon

The Eurofighter Typhoon programme is Europe’s largest, single defence programme. It harnesses the combined expertise and resources of the leading European aerospace companies.

Eurofighter Typhoon in a multi-role combat aircraft which delivers superior air-to-air and air-to-surface capabilities exceeding those provided by other platforms operating in the Asean region. Eurofighter Typhoon has been designed to defeat the threat posed by modern air superiority fighters, whilst delivering a potent ground attack capability.

The Eurofighter Typhoon has outstanding air-to-air performance, and is able to scramble more quickly and fly higher, faster and further than all other available aircraft. A combination of the Eurofighter Typhoon’s twin-engines and advanced composite structures provides the aircraft with significant excess power over similar air defence aircraft. Its complementary and highly potent offensive capability makes it a true multi-role combat aircraft.

As the Eurofighter Typhoon is expected to be in service until at least 2050, its design has significant growth potential to ensure that it retains its operational advantage over future threats, including those with stealth features.

Currently in service with Britain’s Royal Air Force and the air forces of Austria, Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia and Spain, the Typhoon's unrivalled combat capability coupled with improved situation awareness, high survivability and the most advanced array of integrated sensors makes it a total solution for the modern air force. The aircraft, manufactured by BAE Systems and the three European partner nations - Germany, Italy and Spain - is being considered to meet Malaysia’s Multi-Role Combat Aircraft requirement and offers its customers unrivalled opportunities for industrial partnership and technology sharing.

The Eurofighter Typhoon has been developed by four of the world's leading aerospace companies; BAE Systems, Alenia Finmeccanica of Italy and Cassidian of both Italy and Spain. It represents the combined strengths of the European aerospace and defence industries. It will provide a real and significant contribution towards the further development of a sustainable, cohesive and comprehensive Malaysian aerospace industry. It will also provide a full range of industrial options that include research and development, design, training, manufacturing, assembly, integration, maintenance, repair and overhaul.
