More than 1,000 National and International Companies at DefExpo 2016 Defense Exhibition in India.
More than 1,000 National and International companies attended DefExpo 2016, biennial defense exhibition of Land, Naval and Internal Homeland Security Systems which took place in Goa (India) from the 28 to 31 March 2016. With a total of 510 companies, participation by Indian companies has doubled since 2014 which saw a participation by 256 companies. A total of 490 foreign companies are participating this year against 368 in DefExpo 2014.
     
     
At DefExpo 2016, Airbus Group showcases its full portfolio of products, from across commercial aviation, helicopters and defence and space.
 
 

Airbus had won the bid to produce 40 C-295W aircrafts in India in partnership with TATA Advanced Systems in May last year under the 'Make in India' programme while 16 will be bought off the shelf. The €64.5 billion-group Airbus said the selection process for the C-295W medium transport aircraft is ongoing.

Besides, Airbus presents its wide range of military helicopters at DefExpo 2016 which it will be producing in partnership with Mahindra Defence. Some of Airbus military helicopters displayed at DefExpo 2016 were the H225M, H125M Fennec and AS565MBe Panther.

Russia's newest man-portable, shoulder-fired air defense missile system Verba 9K333 is promoted for the international market at DefExpo 2016.

The VERBA 9K333 is the next generation of MANPADS (Man Portable Air Defense System) designed and manufactured in Russia by the Company KBM (Konstruktorskoye Byuro Mashinostroyeniya). The systems was unveiled for the first time during the defense exhibition in Russia Army-2015.

The missile uses a new tri-band optical seeker, along with modern avionics and improved warhead activated by an adaptive contact/proximity fuze. The missile also uses a new solid rocket motor and heavier explosive charge, compared to its Igla-S predecessor. The missile can hit targets that move at speeds up to 500 m/s, at a distance of more than six kilometres, at altitude from ten to 4,500 meters.

The French Company Nexter Systems presents its wide range of artillery systems and ammunition at DefExpo 2016 including the CAESAR 155mm wheeled self-propelled howitzer and the Trajan 155mm towed gun which is being offered to India to meet the country’s army TGS (Towed Gun System) towed howitzer program.
 
 

At DefExpo 2016, Nexter also displays scale models of its new Titus 6x6 tactical infantry armoured vehicle personnel carrier unveiled by Nexter Systems at the Defence Security and Equipment International exhibition (DSEI) in September 2013.

Nexter TITUS® is able to fulfill the full range of missions from Infantry transport to combat missions, combat support and combat service support functions, in any kind of type of commitments likely to occur in a hybrid conflict.

The Nexter TITUS ® can be equipped with any kind of Remote Control Weapon Station from 7.62mm to 20mm, and 40mm Grenade Launchers as well, depending on the level of threats and type of missions.

At DefExpo 2016, the Indian-based Company MSPV (Minerva Special Purpose Vehicle) that specializes in armored vehicles is showcasing a Toyota Fortuner, a Toyota Innova with ballistic protection and its light protected 4x4 armoured vehicle Panthera.

The Panthera T-6 is based on the Toyota 79-series 4x4 chassis. The T-6 is designed for use in urban and cross-country patrol, border security and personnel movement situations (APC) for driver and commander plus up to 6 troops with ample room for mission equipment.
 
The Panthera T-6 comes in various body configurations and provides protection against assault rifles to levels CEN1063/1522 BR6/FB6 or BR7/FB7 and against the explosion of 2 x DM51 hand-grenades under the floor.
