Defense & Security Thailand 2019: ASFAT exhibits new its naval solutions

At Defense & Security Thailand 2019 where defense systems, platforms, equipment and sub-systems manufactured in the defense, security, naval, aviation and space industry are exhibited, ASFAT revealed to local and foreign visitors its Naval and Maritime capabilities.

Within the scope of National Ship Project (MİLGEM); MILGEM Corvette, which is genuinely constructed by ASFAT resident engineers and waving the Turkish flag all over the seas successfully, has entered Pakistan Navy’s service with the agreement signed on 6 September 2018 between Pakistan and Turkey. This agreement was the first contract ever that the Turkish defense industry achieves the largest defense export in a single batch.

Two of the 4 MİLGEM corvettes to be procured by Pakistan were decided to be built at the Istanbul Shipyard Command and the other two at Karachi Shipyard. Pakistan MILGEM Corvette project formally began on 11th March 2019 and the first corvette is scheduled to be delivered in August 2023 in Turkey.

The contract of 10,000 tons of Floating Dock Project, which is required by the General Directorate of Shipyards, was signed on 2nd August 2018 and its construction was started. ‘’Keel Laying Ceremony’’ of the floating dock which is being constructed by HAT-SAN Shipbuilding Maintenance Repair Inc, was carried out on 6th February 2019. Floating Dock has been completed in October 2019 and will be delivered to İzmir Shipyard Command. The project continues as planned.

The floating dock, which will serve the platforms that will be taken to the inventory of Turkish Naval Forces in the coming period, has a lifting capacity of 10,000 tons. The overall length of the floating dock is 175,60 meters and the inner width is 35.54 meters. The floating dock can dive or floats within 1 hour. The dock has 2 electro-hydraulic type mobile cranes. Cranes can carry 10 tons of load 10 mt / min.

Last but not least, they presented for the first time a mockup of its brand new Reis-Class submarine. The new type submarine project has a lenght overall of 68.35 meters, a diameter of 6.30 meters, a height overall of 13.10 meters and a displacement of 1856 tons. It can reach the maximum speed of 20 knots and is able to reach an operationnal depth of 300 meters. The submarine will be in services starting from 2021
