The U.S. Army received the first Future Tactical Unmanned Aircraft System, Increment 1 — known as FTUAS, INC 1 — system on Sept. 12, 2022. The system consists of six air vehicles, six data terminals, six control stations and associated ground support equipment. The U.S. Army awarded an $8M other transaction authority agreement for the system on August 18, 2022, to AeroVironment, Inc.

The U.S. Defense Security Council Agency on October 6 announced that the State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Kuwait of the National Advanced Surface-To-Air Missile System (NASAMS), Medium Range Air Defense System (MRADS) and related equipment for an estimated cost of $3 billion. The “Spartan Brigade,” 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, completed modernization on Sept. 27 when a modernized M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams tank crew fired its last rounds to complete operator new equipment training at Fort Stewart. Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 2nd ABCT, was the last company in the brigade to conduct modernization OPNET, concluding the modernization process that began with divesting the older vehicle platforms in the spring of 2021 as part of the Army’s new Regionally Aligned Readiness and Modernization Model, or ReARMM.

Last July, the Technical Section of the French Army (STAT) took possession of two VBMR Légers Serval armored vehicles to submit them to technical-operational evaluations (EVTO) in a desert environment.
