South Korean defense company Hyundai Rotem announced on October 19 that it had rolled out the first batch of 10 K2PL Black Panther tanks purchased by Poland, Tim Kim reports in Korea News Plus. The roll-out came two months after the company signed a contract to deliver a total of 180 K2PLs to Poland by the mid-2020s. Hyundai Rotem organized an official ceremony at its factory in Changwon, some 300 kilometers southeast of Seoul. The remaining 170 tanks will be delivered over the next three years.

German sensor specialist Henoldt is supplying four of its high-performance radars in record time for Diehl Defence's IRIS-T SLM air defence system intended to strengthen Ukraine's defense capability. The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense announces that 300 more JLTVs (Joint Light Tactical Vehicles) have been acquired for the Lithuanian Armed Forces according to a contract signed by the Defence Materiel Agency under the Ministry of National Defence with the U.S. Government earlier this week. The Lithuanian Armed Forces will receive a total of 500 JLTVs, the current amount and the 200 items contracted for with the U.S. Government in 2019.

An initial batch of 24 K9 Thunder Self-Propelled Howitzers (SPHs) was rolled out on October 19 to be sent to Poland as part of the first executive contract signed in mid-August. The roll-out ceremony was held at Hanwha Defense’s Factory 1 in Changwon, some 300 kilometers southeast of Seoul. This roll-out of 24 K9PL howitzers took place less than two months after signing the executive contract to provide hundreds of K9 SPHs by 2026. Under the Framework Contract, hundreds of K9 SPHs will also be manufactured in Poland for years from 2026.

Rheinmetall has won an order from the German Bundeswehr to supply additional rounds of its innovative 120mm practice ammunition for main battle tanks. The contract encompasses 10,715 DM98 cartridges and 10,000 DM88 cartridges. Issued in the second quarter of 2022, the order is worth around €42 million, including VAT. Delivery began in August and is slated to be completed in October.

Russian troops are successfully using Harpoon-3 handheld anti-drone systems in the special military operation in Ukraine, a source close to Russian uniformed agencies told TASS: “Russian units are successfully using advanced Harpoon-3 handheld anti-drone systems during the special military operation. It is planned to use the Jelcz 8x8 and BMS Topaz. The value of this purchase is estimated at $6.12 billion. The executive agreement is to be signed in December, and the first squadron will receive the vehicles in 2023.
