A General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) and Boeing team has been awarded a U.S. Army Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office (RCCTO) contract to develop a 300kW-class solid-state Distributed Gain High Energy Laser Weapon System. Delivery will be a 300 kW-class distributed gain laser with an integrated Boeing beam director. The objective of this contract is a demonstration of the design.

The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Xinjiang Military Command has received a new type of all-terrain vehicle, which is expected to ensure logistics support to plateau border defense troops as winter draws close and as China-India border tensions again risk rising after the latest military talks failed to reach an agreement. General Dynamics Land Systems announced on October 25 a strategic teaming agreement with Epirus, Inc., a high-growth technology company developing directed energy systems that enable unprecedented counter-electronics effects. GD and Epirus will collaborate to integrate the Leonidas directed energy system and broader high-power microwave technology into the U.S. Army’s Stryker and other manned and autonomous ground combat vehicles for enhanced mobile Short Range Air Defense (SHORAD) capabilities.

The second batch of 160 Rwanda National Police (RNP) officers left on July 10, 2021, to Mozambique. They were part of the 1,000 military and police contingent pledged by the Government of Rwanda at the request of the Government of Mozambique, to support the country's operations against insecurity and terrorism in the affected region of Cabo Delgado.

As of October 22, Zakłady Mechaniczne "Tarnów" S.A. completed the delivery of this year's volume of LMP-2017 light infantry mortars to the Polish Territorial Defense Forces (TDF). The last batch of LMP-2017, i.e. 71 out of 294 planned for this year, went to the material warehouse in Regna on Friday, October 22. The delivery was made before the required date, specified in the schedule included in the Agreement. It is also worth adding that in 2019 we have already delivered 150 pieces of this product, and in 2020 - 204 pieces. The delivery of 132 units is planned for 2022, and it will be the last batch provided for in the Agreement.

According to Yeni Safak, the Turkish Foreign minister on Friday, October 22, met with his South Korean counterpart in the capital Seoul and discussed bilateral ties, cooperation in the defense industry and investments. An agreement on the sale of South Korean engines intended for the Turkish Altay main battle tank has been signed.

The 5th Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, part of the U.S. 10th Army Air & Missile Defense Command, completed the first live-fire of the maneuver short-range air defense weapon system at the tactical unit level and the first-ever live-fire of the system in Europe on Oct. 7, 2021. The week-long training took place at the Putlos Bundeswehr range on the Baltic Sea coast of Germany. Maj. Robert Fellingham reports.

Rheinmetall has chalked up another success in the artillery domain. DMO, the Dutch procurement agency, has just placed an order with Rheinmetall for illumination and smoke/obscurant shells from Rheinmetall’s ammunition family. The NATO nation will take delivery of the projectiles in mid-2023.

Rheinmetall, the largest supplier of military vehicles to the Australian Defence Force, has submitted the company’s Lynx Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) best and final offer for the Australian Department of Defence Land 400 Phase 3 Mounted Close Combat Capability tender. Rheinmetall is one of two competing companies involved in the tender for this procurement project.

According to Defense Blog, Ukraine’s state-owned arms trading agency Ukrspetsexport Corp. delivered the Oplot main battle tank to the U.S. military last week. Vadim Nozdrya, general director of the Ukrspetseksport, said that the tank was shipped to the United States within the framework of the contract for the new combat vehicle.

According to Guy Martin in Defence Web, The Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) has commissioned the locally manufactured Chui (Leopard) infantry fighting vehicle (IFV), which is based on Twiga’s recently launched Nyati but incorporating elements required by the Land Forces of the UPDF. The Chui was commissioned by President Yoweri Museveni, Commander-in-Chief of the UPDF, during a function at State House in Entebbe on 18 October.

JSC Rosoboronexport (part of the Rostec State Corporation) is taking part in the 25th International Exhibition of Means of State Security Provision "Interpolitex 2021" held on 19-22 October 2021 in Moscow at the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Center. At Interpolitex-2021, Rosoboronexport is promoting civilian and dual-use products, special equipment for law enforcement and security agencies, developed and manufactured by leading Russian companies.
