This bill funds the Iron Dome and David’s Sling systems, crucial in Israel’s defense against short and medium-to-long-range attacks. The passage of this aid package, amidst significant civilian casualties in Gaza and calls for a humanitarian pause, represents a strong U.S. commitment to Israel's defense capabilities in a period of heightened conflict.

The Iron Dome, developed by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Israel Aerospace Industries, is designed to counter short-range rocket threats from 4 to 70 kilometers and has played a vital role in protecting Israeli communities.

David’s Sling, developed in collaboration with Rafael and Raytheon, known as Magic Wand, is intended to intercept enemy planes, drones, tactical ballistic missiles, and medium- to long-range rockets, filling the gap between the Iron Dome and the Arrow missile system.

The Iron Dome has been instrumental in intercepting a high volume of rockets from Gaza, significantly reducing civilian casualties and infrastructure damage in Israel. David’s Sling, though less frequently used, provides a crucial defense against more sophisticated long-range threats. The effectiveness of these systems in Israel's defense strategy has been a key factor in the U.S.’s decision to continue supporting Israel in this period of heightened conflict, despite the humanitarian concerns raised due to the heavy civilian toll in Gaza.
