Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the United Kingdom has already delivered hundreds of Brimstone missiles to Ukraine. In the Ukrainian army, the Brimstone has been modified to be launched from a truck. As a surface-to-surface missile, the Brimstone can be used to target tanks or artillery vehicles.

The first generation of Brimstone missile has a length of 1.8 m and a diameter of 180mm. It is fitted with a Multi-effect, tandem-shaped charge with adaptive fusing weighing 6.3 kg capable of penetrating explosive reactive armor, while the missile has a weight of around 50 kg. The Guidance system uses millimetric wave radar and a semi-active laser. It has a maximum firing range of 20 km. Brimstone is armed with a tandem high-explosive anti-tank warhead

The Brimstone 2 has an improved seeker, a more modular design and improvements to the airframe and software for "an overall increase in performance with improvements in range and engagement footprint", including a "more than 200% increase" in maximum range. Its improved Vulcan rocket motor reportedly doubles the baseline model’s range, extending the missile’s reach to over 40 km.

In March 2019, MBDA successfully tested the latest Brimstone 3 version in Sweden, now including the surface-to-surface version. This new version is an evolution of the Brimstone 2 precision-guided air-to-surface missile. The Brimstone 3 has new hardware to provide an advanced surface-to-surface capability.
