The British Government on November 1 announced that scientists have field-tested their research into how the ground-breaking technology could be used to detect hazardous material. The use of autonomous uncrewed systems for the recce and survey of areas for chemical and radiological material is a step closer to becoming a reality. The successful Hybrid Area Reconnaissance and Survey (HARS) field trial has taken place to demonstrate the concept of this cutting-edge research.
FNSS is attending Indo Defence Expo & Forum 2022 which is taking place in Jakarta, Indonesia, between 2 – 5 November. The Turkish manufacturer is exhibiting its Marine Assault Vehicle (MAV) Zaha with Caka Remote Weapon Station (RWS) which is purposely designed for MAV. Kaplan MT (Harimau), developed jointly by FNSS and PT Pindad as part of a Defence Industry Cooperation Agreement signed between Turkey and Indonesia, is participating in the live demonstrations.
According to a tweet posted by the Polish 6th BPD "Sosabowski" on October 31, deliveries of Aero 4x4 vehicles to the airmobile troops to the 6BPD have been completed. A total of 80 vehicles and 120 special trailers were delivered to the Polish Army. Deliveries started in 2019. The total value of the contract amounts to around 50 million Polish złotys (approx. $10.5Mn).
The Russian Lancet loitering munition (kamikaze drone) is immune to the latest laser weapons due to its embedded anti-laser protection, Russia’s Rostec state hi-tech corporation wrote on its Telegram channel: “It is almost impossible to intercept and eliminate the Lancet or hide from it. Even the latest laser weapons designed to counter drones are ineffective against this UAV due to its anti-laser protection,” the statement reads.
The U.S. Army has awarded a 5-year IDIQ contract valued up to USD 1.498 Bn to Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace AS for the continued delivery of the Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station (CROWS).

The British Government on October 28 announced that soldiers, vehicles and UK military bases around the world will receive innovative digital protection against remote and radio-controlled Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) through a £45 million contract with British industry. Under the contract awarded to Team Protect, the work – called Project CRENIC – sees UK military experts collaborate with small and medium businesses during the next five years.
