Haifa, Israel, May 18, 2023 – Global high-technology Israeli company Elbit Systems Ltd. has publicized a groundbreaking agreement with the Israeli and Netherlands Ministries of Defense. Under the contract, valued at $305 million, Elbit Systems will provide its Precise & Universal Launching System (PULS) artillery rocket/missile launcher systems to the Royal Netherlands Army over the next five years.

May 16, 2023, Madrid - Spanish technology company Indra has initiated the delivery of state-of-the-art simulators for the Pizarro infantry combat vehicle (ICV/C) to the Spanish Army units equipped with these armored vehicles. The roll-out began with the dispatch of a section simulator, consisting of four vehicle simulators, to the Córdoba base. Indra plans to continue these deliveries to bases in Zaragoza and Gerona over the coming month, followed by locations in Badajoz, Madrid, Ceuta, and Melilla.

In the ongoing FEINDEF 2023 defense exhibition in Spain, CNIM, a leading French defense company, unveiled its latest innovation, ROCUS. This route clearance unmanned system is built on the robust MILREM THeMIS, a tracked robot outfitted with extendable arms and specialized tools for defusing mine threats and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). According to CNIM, this groundbreaking road mine clearance robot is set to make a significant impact with seven units already scheduled for delivery to Ukraine.

IWI – Israel Weapon Industries – a member of the SK Group, and a manufacturer of combat-proven small arms for military forces, police units, law enforcement agencies, and governmental entities around the world – announces the signing of a ToT (Transfer of Technology and Knowledge) agreement with Peruvian company Fame (Fábrica de Armas y Municiones del Ejército S.A.C.), under which both companies will establish an assembly and production line in Peru for the Arad family of assault rifles.

A new U.S. Army software package tested by airborne troopers may impact mission command at all levels on the modern battlefield. The Mounted Mission Command Software Version 3.1, or MMC-S v3.1, aims to provide accurate digital command and control and situational awareness on the move, according to Maj. Andrew Johnson, a test officer with the Mission Command Test Directorate of the U.S. Army Operational Test Command at Fort Cavazos, Texas. Spanish company NVLS is showcasing its most advanced products in Wide Field of View night vision equipment, including its family of monocular (Minimus Mono 50 / EVO Mono 52) and binocular (Minimus Bino 50 / EVO Bino 52) goggles with a Wide Field of View of 50º and 52º compared to the standard of 40º, as well as its family of Wide Field of View night vision goggles designed for helicopter pilots and jet aircraft Anvis 52 and Micro Anvis 50.

In an article released by the Italian newspaper, "La Stampa" on May 15, 2023, it was confirmed that Ukraine has received its first French/Italian SAMP/T air defense missile system. This development is a significant step in bolstering the Ukrainian military's air defense capabilities, which has been a matter of high priority due to sustained aerial aggression from Russian forces.

MILEX 2023 defense exhibition will take place in Minsk from May 17 to 20. It is expected to open up new opportunities for international cooperation, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin said in the official address to the participants of this 11th edition of the international arms and defense technology expo, Belta news agency reports.

Sensor specialist HENSOLDT will supply six more of its TRML-4D high-performance radars to strengthen Ukraine's air defence. As part of an order worth more than 100 million euros, the radars will be delivered in the second half of the year following the training of the Ukrainian operators. HENSOLDT already has several TRML-4D radars under contract for Ukraine as part of the IRIS-T SLM air defence system.

Rheinmetall and Elbit Systems have successfully conducted a live fire demonstration of an automated 155mm L52 wheeled self-propelled howitzer. The demonstration of the new system took place in early March 2023 at the Shivta firing range, in southern Israel. It was attended by high-ranking officials of the armed forces of the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands and Hungary.

As reported by InfoDefensa on May 13, Argentinian Minister of Defense, Jorge Taiana, supervised the firing and adjustment tests of the TAM Medium Argentine Tank (TAM, Tanque Argentino Mediano) in its TAM 2CA2 version. These tests were carried out at the Magdalena tank firing range, with the aim of verifying the modernization that involves the integration of new systems. Minister Tiana commented that “We are very satisfied that this modernization is advancing within the deadlines we have established. We hope to end the year with several tanks modernized and ready to integrate the operational units”.

On May 15, the Polish Ministry of Defense published a report about the delivery f the first five M142 HIMARS. “Today we are accepting HIMARS for the Polish Army. This equipment is combat proven in the hands of the Ukrainians by stopping the Russian invasion. (…) This weapon will go to the northeastern part of our country, to the 16th Mechanized Division. Its task will be to deter the aggressor, and strengthen the Polish Army on the eastern flank of Poland and the eastern flank of the North Atlantic Alliance, said Deputy Prime Minister Mariusz Błaszczak.

According to Tyan on China-Defense.blogspot.com on May 12, the Brazilian army has been checking out NORINCO‘s VT4 main battle tank, an operation dating back to December 2022, in fact. NORINCO offered the option of arming its VT4 with a 120mm main gun for a forthcoming Brazilian call for tenders.

The US Army displays combat vehicles, artillery systems and weapons donated to the Ukrainian armed forces including HIMARS, M270 MLRS, and Javelin, as well as US Army Vehicles such as the JLTV, FMTV truck, Blackhawk helicopter, and M1134 Stryker anti-tank missile carrier.
