Germany is on the verge of purchasing new Leopard 2A7V tanks for the Germany army, FDP Defence politician Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann confirmed to the German daily newspaper "Frankfurter Rundschau" on the sidelines of an election campaign event in Munich.

According to statement published by the Germany Ministry of Defense, Germany plans to deliver 18 Leopard 2A6 to Ukraine with ammunition and spare parts. Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Germany has also delivered to Ukraine 14 Panzerhaubitze 2000 (PzH 2000) in collaboration with The Netherlands.

The Leopard 2A7V is an advanced version of the Leopard 2 main battle tank developed and produced by the German company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW). The Leopard 2A7V is designed to be more agile, versatile, and technologically advanced than its predecessors, offering improved survivability, firepower, and mobility. The first Leopard 2A7V tanks were delivered to the German Army in December 2020.

Key features of the Leopard 2A7V include a new modular armor package, improved powerpack, enhanced command and control systems, and upgraded optics and targeting systems. It is equipped with a 120mm L55 smoothbore gun, capable of firing a wide range of ammunition types, including advanced kinetic energy rounds and programmable airburst munitions.

The Panzerhaubitze 2000, abbreviated as PzH 2000, is a highly advanced, self-propelled 155mm howitzer designed and manufactured by the German companies Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and Rheinmetall. Introduced in 1998, the PzH 2000 is widely regarded as one of the most powerful and capable artillery systems in the world.

The PzH 2000 is built on a modified Leopard 2 chassis and features a fully automated loading system, allowing for rapid fire rates of up to 10 rounds per minute. Its 155mm L52 gun has a maximum firing range of approximately 30 kilometers with standard ammunition and up to 40 kilometers with rocket-assisted projectiles.

The PzH 2000 is used by several countries, including Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Greece, and Qatar. It has also seen combat in conflicts such as the war in Afghanistan, where its precision and long-range capabilities have proven invaluable.
