"The procurement will be used to expand the existing 155 mm artillery round stockpiles of the Finnish Defence Forces and to improve the security of supply", says Minister of Defence Antti Kaikkonen. At the same time, the procurement allows the industry to raise its production capacity of ammunition. In November 2020, Nammo Lapua and Nammo Vihtavuori were selected by the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command to strengthen the domestic ammunition supply security in the region.

Nammo Lapua is a Finnish company that was founded in 1923 and has a long history of producing innovative and reliable ammunition for various applications. It produces a wide range of ammunition, from small to heavy calibers. Nammo Lapua also develops custom ammunition for specific applications, such as long-range shooting or tactical operations.

The production of 155mm artillery rounds typically involves several stages, including:
• Design and engineering: The first step in producing 155mm artillery rounds is designing and engineering the round. This includes selecting the appropriate materials and determining the dimensions, weight, and other specifications.
• Manufacture of components: The various components of the round, such as the projectile, propellant, and casing, are manufactured separately.
• Assembly: Once the components are manufactured, they are assembled together to create a complete round. This typically involves inserting the propellant into the casing, attaching the projectile, and adding any necessary fuzes or other components.
• Quality control: Throughout the production process, the rounds undergo rigorous quality control testing to ensure that they meet the required specifications for accuracy, range, and safety.
• Packaging and distribution: Once the rounds are manufactured and tested, they are packaged and distributed to military units for use in artillery systems.

It's important to note that the specific production process for 155mm artillery rounds may vary depending on the manufacturer and the specific requirements of the customer or end-user.
