BAE Systems is offering the Beowulf all-terrain vehicle for the U.S. Army’s Cold Weather All-Terrain Vehicle (CATV) program. The bid comes after BvS10 Beowulf successfully completed the prototype evaluation phase of the program aimed at replacing the Army’s legacy fleet of vehicles for operating in tough arctic environments and other harsh terrains.

Alcon Components Ltd, a UK-based brake and clutch company, has entered series production with the high-performance bespoke braking solution being provided to the Patria 6x6 all-terrain armoured wheeled vehicle. Patria’s 6x6 platform had been selected to be part of a joint programme to develop sustained mobility enhancements for the Finnish and Latvian armies. There are also a number of other global programmes considering the Patria 6x6.

According to a tweet from the Chinese embassy in Somalia, China has donated nearly $5 million worth of military hardware, including vehicles, to Somalia. The vehicles and equipment were handed over on March 18 during a ceremony at the Port of Mogadishu.

3rd ABCT is the 9th armored rotational unit to deploy to Europe in support of Atlantic Resolve. The “Iron Brigade” will join two other brigades in Europe under the command of the U.S. Army V Corps, which retains command control of all rotational units in the European theater. The rotation will include joint and multinational training events to build readiness, increase interoperability and enhance the bond between NATO Allies and regional partner nations.

Elbit Systems announced on March 21 that it was awarded a contract in the amount of approximately $27 million by the Swedish Defence Material Administration, to provide the Swedish Armed Forces with M339 rounds, 120mm ammunition, and Data Setting Units, for its Stridsvagn 122 Main Battle Tanks (MBTs). The contract will be performed over a period of ten months.

A few weeks ago, a demonstration of the operation of the anti-drone system (C-UAS or Counter Unmanned Aerial System), from Thales, Horus Shield (part of Eagle Shield Thales’ solution), took place at the airfield of the Segovia town of Marugán. This demonstration is part of the tests approved by the Spanish Army as part of the Fuerza 2035/BRIEX 2035 initiative, which aims to adapt the Spanish Army to the operational environment foreseen for that year.

Saab and the Danish Ministry of Defence, Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) are entering into a Framework Agreement for live training solutions. The framework agreement has a duration of 15 years, with an option for a further 5 years. The potential order value is approximately DKK 550 million over the 15-year period.

Liu Xuanzun reports in Global Times that China put into effect new interim rules to regulate military equipment procurement contracts on Sunday, March 20, that aim to advance the quality and efficiency of equipment procurement, with analysts saying that the new regulations, together with several others that have taken effect since last year related to military equipment, will serve as vital steps to China's pursuit of national defense modernization.

During the NATO Defense Ministers meeting that was held in Brussels, Belgium, on March 16, 2022, the Government of the Netherlands has confirmed the sending of Patriot air defense missile systems to Sliac, Slovakia, as part of NATO moves to strengthen air defenses in Eastern Europe. Germany has also announced the sending of two Patriot missile systems to Slovakia.
