According to a contract published by the United States Department of Defense (DoD) on June 24, 2022, General Dynamics Land Systems, Sterling Heights, Michigan, was awarded a $55,851,215 firm-fixed-price contract for the acquisition of Armored Ground Mobility System Heavy Platform Vehicles.

The Armored Ground Mobility System (AGMS) is a 6x6 armored personnel carrier in service with Delta Force and in limited use by the U.S. Special Forces and is an upgraded variant of the Pandur 6x6 APC (Armored personnel Carrier) manufactured for USSOCOM (United States Special Operations Command) by General Dynamics Land Systems in 2000, The first batch of 12 AGMS was purchased by the USSOCOM in 2000 and and 11 additional vehicles were ordered in 2011. 

The AGMS is based on a Pandur I 6x6 APC (Armored Personnel Carrier) featuring many improvements including a 6-cylinder engine, shielded driver's compartment, custom up-armor kit, electronic anti-IED countermeasures, and provisions for secure radio communications. 

The AGMS is designed to be a rapidly-deployable Armored Personnel Carrier (APC), fitted with a Remote Weapon Station (RWS) armed with one 12.7mm heavy machine gun. The hull of the vehicle is fitted with ballistic protection kit and increased transportability options for special operations forces (SOF). 

The AGMS has a crew of two including a driver and commander and can carry up to seven SF operators.
