The U.S. Department of Defense announced on June 8 that FN America LLC, Columbia, South Carolina, was awarded a $92,104,736 firm-fixed-price contract to procure M240 Series machine gun variants and spare receivers. One bid was solicited via the internet with one received. Work locations and funding will be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of June 8, 2026. U.S. Army Contracting Command, New Jersey, is the contracting activity.

The divisions of the Russian Southern Military District will be fully armed with T-90 tanks. The military then plan to rearm the formations with upgraded T-90M Proryv, the Izvestia daily writes quoting Defense Ministry sources. Tank units of the 19th and 20th Motorized Rifle Divisions of the district will be rearmed with T-90. The rearming of the divisions with T-90M is being considered.

Protolab Oy has introduced two newly upgraded variants of the 6x6 Protected Multi-Purpose Vehicle (PMPV) Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC): the PMPV 2 and PMPV 3. The new variants have been developed based on user feedback and are ready to meet the requirements of Finland’s upcoming domestic 6x6 APC procurement programme. This programme is expected to begin when competitor participating vehicles complete R&D and market surveys have been concluded. Protolab is also pursuing international APC programmes with the variants, under both direct commercial sale and technical cooperation/technology transfer agreements; and is currently awaiting results and feedback from a number of ongoing programmes.

Iskander-M operational-tactical launchers received a new missile. It is a stealth weapon that maneuvers to create additional problems for air and missile defense. Russian company Rostec announced that its Central Scientific-Research Institute for Precision Machine Engineering (TsNIITochMash) created new ammunition for protecting armored vehicles from high-precision weapons. When a threat arises, the protective ammunition is fired in the danger’s direction and creates aerosol and dipole chaff that makes an enemy’s high-precision weapon guidance system “blind”.
