Rheinmetall has won a major order from the German Bundeswehr in the armored vehicle domain, representing a sales volume of well over half a billion euros. Issued through the joint venture company PSM GmbH, the contract encompasses the upgrade of the first lot of the Bundeswehr’s Puma IFV Infantry Fighting Vehicle, bringing them up to uniform enhanced design status.

The strategic committee appointed earlier this year by Ludivine Dedonder, the Belgian Minister of Defense, to think about the future of the Belgian army has issued its report. The twelve experts recommend going beyond the existing Strategic Vision, both in terms of personnel (more personnel) and investment in equipment, in particular by acquiring more F-35A fighter jets.

According to information released on June 25, 2021, in collaboration with the U.S. Army, KONGSBERG Defence and Aerospace and the Javelin Joint Venture (JJV) conducted a four-shot, multi-platform Javelin demonstration at the U.S. Army Redstone Test Center in Alabama on May 25, 2021. Three different vehicles were each equipped with different configurations of the KONGSBERG Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station-Javelin (CROWS-J) and Protector RS6 Remote Weapon Station (RWS).

AM General, global military-grade tactical vehicle and mobility systems provider, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Egyptian Ministry of Military Production (MoMP) to facilitate Egypt’s development of its domestic military automobile industry. The long-term partnership would establish a phased approach to investigate ways in which AM General can collaborate with the MoMP to develop and build tactical vehicles in-country.

Mack Defense is now producing Heavy Dump Trucks (HDT) at the Mack Experience Center, following an investment of $6.5 million to create a dedicated production line at the facility. According to TheWeek, the Indian Army on June 23 published a detailed request for information (RFI) from suppliers soliciting proposals to supply Futuristic Infantry Combat Vehicles (FICV). The goal is to purchase up to 1,750 FICVs in three versions: 'gun version', command post version, and command and surveillance version. The Indian Army specifies the FICVs will be procured in the spirit of ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ programmes.

British military bridge manufacturer WFEL is to supply a number of its Dry Support Bridges (DSB) to the Philippine Army under the Horizon 2 phase of the revised AFP Modernisation Programme. The DSB systems can be deployed in around 90 minutes to provide temporary infrastructure and will be supplied with pedestrian walkways, for use in Disaster Relief operational situations, as well as other military scenarios.
