In a tweet posted on January 1, the Indian Aerospace Defence News (IADN) announced that the Royal Moroccan Army will take delivery of 94 6x6 military trucks from Indian company Tata Advance Systems. On the pictures tweeted, many LPTA 244 6×6 trucks were getting ready to be exported to Morocco from Port Pipavav, off the West Coast of India, Joe Saballa reports in The Defense Post. The Moroccan army also confirmed the export on Sunday, saying on Twitter that the vehicles were “on their way to be delivered.”

As reported by Australian staradvertiser.com referring to AP, Australia announced on 5 January that it will spend more than 1 billion Australian dollars (US$700 million) on Lockheed Martin M142 HIMARS (launchers, missiles and training rockets), possibly 20 units, that would be inducted by 2026, and Kongsberg Naval Strike Missile (NSM), which will be employed on the Hobart Class destroyers and Anzac Class frigates, replacing the ageing Harpoon anti-ship missile on those ships from 2024

The Norwegian Defense materiel administration has signed a contract with Rheinmetall for the upgrade of electro-optical sensors in the air defense system NASAMS (Norwegian Advanced Surface to Air Missile System). The value of the contract is around NOK 190 million. It includes an upgrade of the current analogue sensor system to the new digital sensor system.

Elbit Systems announced on January 4 that its E-Lyn tactical Software Defined Radio (SDR) solution was selected by the Spanish Ministry of Defense Directorate-General for Armament and Material (DGAM) for the "Urgent acquisition of V/UHF SDR radio equipment" program. This follows the Spanish MoD’s selection of the E-Lynx SDR solution for its combat battalions in November 2020, and for its 8x8 VCR Dragon combat vehicles in November 2021.

The Indian ministry of Defense has begun procurement of 100 more K9 Vajra tracked, self-propelled howitzers, Dinakar Peri reports in The Hindu. Contract negotiations will begin once Larsen & Toubro (L&T) responds to the ministry’s request for proposals issued last November to manufacture the South Korean 155 mm gun domestically. All the deliveries will be completed before 2028. Until last year, the Indian Army had planned to order only one more K9 regiment.

According to information.dk website, two Finnish politicians asked their government to send Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine. They want a joint European effort and encourage Denmark to take up the same discussion. The two Finnish politicians Anders Adlercreutz and Atte Harjanne, from the government parties SFP and Grønt Forbund, have joined forces to call on the Finnish government to take up the debate on making Leopard 2A4 tanks available to Ukraine. The Hungarian state is building a new explosives plant to produce RDX (Research Department eXplosive) at its site in Várpalota, Hungary. Rheinmetall Denel Munition Pty (Ltd) from South Africa is supplying the necessary plant technology. Under the contract signed on 15 December 2022, a new plant will be built and operated by a joint venture consisting of Rheinmetall and N7 Holding, a state-owned Hungarian enterprise. Polish Defense ministry has signed a contract modification with Fabryka Broni “Łucznik” – Radom for the delivery of another batch of MSBS Grot assault rifles for the Polish Army. Close to 70,000 additional rifles will be delivered by the end of 2026 under the contract, with more to be ordered.

The Ukrainian army has received a batch of Swedish all-terrain vehicles Bandvagn 202, en.topwar.ru reports. According to the Ukrainian press, this is not an official supply from the Swedish Ministry of Defense: these vehicles were purchased by a private person and donated to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In 2022, the U.S. Army announced that the Next Generation Squad Weapon Program will become soldiers’ primary firearms, awarded a defense contract for new, Mobile Protected Firepower vehicles and outlined its designs to build the Army of 2030. The Army of 2030 is a plan to modernize and upgrade Army forces while preventing near-peer adversaries from outpacing the service on the battlefield. Joe Lacdan, Army News Service, reports.

Elbit Systems announced on January 3 that it was awarded a contract valued at approximately $107 million to provide, operate and maintain the new Main Battle Tank (MBT) simulation and training centers of the Israeli Defense Forces' (IDF) Armored Corps. The new training centers will train commanders and soldiers of the Armored Corps and will maintain the readiness of both regular and reserve units. The centers will be delivered over a three-year period and the contract includes operation and maintenance services for an additional period of fifteen years.
