According to a statement released by the French embassy in Chad on January 23, 2021, France has delivered nine ERC-90 Sagaie, a 6x6 armored vehicle armed with a 90 mm cannon to the Chadian army during an official ceremony that was held in the capital N'Djamena, on January 23, 2021. The official ceremony was attended by the French ambassador in Chad and military authorities of the Chadian armed forces.

During a live demonstration, the Turkish company BMC has unveiled the latest design of the Altay indigenous MBT (Main Battle Tank). The first prototype of the Altay MBT was designed by the Turkish company OTOKAR. In November 2018, the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) inked a contract with BMC to start the mass production of Altay MBT that will include a total of 250 tanks.

Leonardo DRS announced on January 21 it has received an initial contract award for 28 Initial Maneuver Short-Range Air Defense (IM-SHORAD) Mission Equipment Packages (MEP) from General Dynamics Land Systems in support of the U.S. Army's recent IM-SHORAD production award. The award, received on December 2nd 2020, is the first of a five-year contract valued at more than $600 million.

Russia will supply Pantsir-S1 air defense systems, Orlan-10E unmanned aerial vehicles and radars to Myanmar (formerly called Burma). Leonardo has signed a contract to supply the Slovenian Defence Ministry with its Type 163 Laser Target Designator (LTD) for the Slovenian Armed Forces. The contract makes Slovenia the 23rd nation to order the Type 163 LTD, more than 700 units of which have now been sold in total by Leonardo. The global success of the product reinforces Leonardo’s market leadership in the high-energy military lasers domain, with the company’s site in Edinburgh, U.K., satisfying 70% of global demand for applications on airborne platforms and around 60% of the total market, including for ground-based applications.

As published by Army Recognition last 13 January, the wheeled self-propelled Malva 2S43 gun is beginning trials in 2021. The 152mm artillery system is mounted on the 8x8 Voshchina prime mover. Until recently, all Soviet and Russian howitzers were tracked. A whole family of new highly mobile guns and mortars is at the final stage of design. The transition to such hardware is a modern trend in global artillery and the new gun will be of interest for potential buyers of Russian weapons, the Izvestia daily writes.

EDA’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological Nuclear Surveillance as Service (CBRN SaaS) project entered its operational phase today when representatives of the 12 industry members of the consortium in charge of implementing it met for the first time, albeit only remotely due to the Covid pandemic. Russia’s Corps of Engineers continues receiving mine-clearance and firefighting robots, the Defense Ministry’s press office said : “The delivery of Uran-6 mine-clearance and Uran-14 firefighting robots continues. The Corps of Engineers has received 15 Uran-6 MRTK-R and seven Uran-14 MRTK-P systems,” the press office said. “In 2021, 20 Uran-6 and 17 Uran-14 robots are planned to be delivered to the Corps of Engineers.”
