Commander Pasmar 1 (Danpasmar 1) Brigadier General TNI (Mar) Hermanto, took part on January 27 to a technical discussion on the modernization of the PT-76 Tanks operated by the Indonesian Marine Corps (Marinir). This discussion was a form of attention from the top Command, in this case the main official of the Marine Corps, represented by Wadan Kormar Brigadier General TNI (Mar) Nur Alamsyah, SE, MM, M.Tr (Han, to the renewal of the Main Weapon System (Alutsista) in the ranks of the Marine Corps, especially the Cavalry Regiment (Menkav). At the end of the presentation, a question and answer time took place about the advantages and disadvantages of the solutions presented.

The technical discussion was about PT-76’ armament, 90 mm ammunition, optical electronic suite, fire system, electrical systems, PT-76 tank resistance, armor enhancement, countermeasures detection system, fire suppression system, engine and transmission, power generation, distribution and storage, hydraulic shut-off and propeller control systems.

In 2020, Indonesian company PT Lumindo Artha Sejati upgraded the Soviet-made PT-76 light amphibious tank used by the Indonesian Marine Corps. The upgraded PT-76 is now motorized with a US-made Detroit Diesel engine and armed with a John Cockerill (formerly CMI Defence) Mk III 90mm caliber cannon associated with a new firing control system.
