The South Korean Defense Ministry has unveiled a comprehensive five-year plan to enhance and bolster its defense capabilities in response to evolving military threats, particularly from North Korea, Yonhap news agency reports, echoed by The Korea Times. This plan, known as the mid-term Defense blueprint for 2024-2028, seeks to allocate a substantial budget of nearly 350 trillion won (approximately $265 billion) for various defense initiatives.

On December 4, 2023, Forsvarsmateriell (FMA), the Norwegian procurement authority, announced the delivery of five out of eight new Leguan Leopard 2 armored vehicle launched bridges (AVLBs) to the Norwegian Armed Forces. This delivery is part of a military procurement initiated in 2019, valued at €88.9 million, with the remaining three tanks expected to be delivered by 2027.

According to ANI on December 12, 2023, the Indian Army is set to acquire 70,000 Sig Sauer 716 assault rifles following the Defence Ministry's approval on the same date. This procurement, with a budget exceeding Rs 800 crore ($95,908,880), is in response to India's current security challenges, including the military standoff with China and counterterrorism operations in Jammu and Kashmir.

During a meeting in Oslo with Ukrainian President Zelensky, on 13 December 2023, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre pledged to continue Norway's support in Ukraine's fight for freedom. This announcement includes a substantial donation of air defense equipment and a financial package exceeding 3 billion NOK (approximately 300 million EUR) aimed at maintaining essential public services in Ukraine, such as education and healthcare.

Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen announced on December 12, 2023, a substantial expansion of the country's shell production capacity. This decision, endorsed by the Economic Policy Committee, aims to more than double the current production levels, marking a major shift in Finland's defense strategy.

Ukraine has acquired 11 Gurkha armored vehicles from Canada to enhance its military operations. Designed by Terradyne Armored Vehicles in Ontario, Canada, these vehicles are specially equipped for medical evacuation missions. This announcement was made by the Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, on December 11, 2023.

Sig Sauer is expanding its range with the introduction of the P322-COMP, an enhanced version of its P322 model. The new P322-COMP aims to set a higher standard in the .22LR pistol category, targeting both novice and experienced shooters with its competition-ready features.

The U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency on December 12 announced that the State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Romania of Javelin anti-tank missiles and related equipment for an estimated cost of $80 million.

As reported by Serge Havrylets on Euromaidan on December 8, the Bulgarian parliament overrode President Roumen Radev's veto on an agreement to supply Ukraine with 100 Soviet-era armored personnel carriers. This decision, initially ratified last month, includes the provision of corresponding armaments and spare parts at no charge. The agreement is between Bulgaria's Interior Ministry and Ukraine's Defence Ministry.

GM Defense LLC, a subsidiary of General Motors (GM), and Jankel, a British world leader in the design, integration, manufacture and support of high-specification defense systems, announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The MOU establishes a framework to jointly pursue business opportunities for defense and government customers using GM Defense mobility solutions, including the Heavy-Duty Sport Utility Vehicle (HD SUV) international variant, the Integrated Armored Vehicle (IAV). The collaboration will include support work in the U.S., in addition to the UK, Europe and in other locations where Jankel has an established support capability.

U.S. soldiers with C Battery, 3rd Battalion, 6th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, rehearsed and conducted Artillery Table XV from Nov. 29 to Dec. 3 on Fort Drum to qualify their artillery crews. Pfc. Elijah Campbell reports.

In September 2023, the Israeli army welcomed a major addition to its arsenal with the delivery of the 5th generation Merkava tank, nicknamed Barak, to the 52nd Armored Battalion. This new main battle tank not only symbolizes the legacy of Israel's military icon, the Merkava but also represents a significant advancement in AI technology and combat capabilities. According to IDF, the Barak tank has been effective in  Gaza urban warfare and kept IDF casualties to a minimum.

Germany has ramped up its support for Ukraine amidst the ongoing conflict by delivering a substantial lot of military equipment and supplies. This assistance was announced by the German Ministry of Defense on December 7, 2023.

The Austrian Defence Ministry has contracted with Rheinmetall to carry out a comprehensive modernization of its existing Skyguard air defence systems. In the presence of Austrian Minister of Defence Klaudia Tanner, the two parties have now signed the contract for Project Skyguard Next Generation in Vienna. For Rheinmetall, the order represents sales of €532 million (without VAT), which can already be booked as an incoming order in December 2023. The contract encompasses a project period of 48 months starting in February 2024.

On November 1, 2023, Kalashnikov announced the successful delivery of a new batch of AK-12 assault rifles, thus fulfilling the terms of an expanded contract. This recent delivery marks a significant increase, nearly doubling the number of AK-12 rifles distributed to the Russian military compared to the previous year.
