LPU-1 Wirus 4x4 armored reconnaissance vehicles enter service in Polish Army


On December 7, 2021, as published by the Polish Ministry of Defense on its website, the head of the Ministry of National Defense met with soldiers who carry out tasks on the Polish-Belarusian border and handed over the first batch of long-distance reconnaissance vehicles. He said: "I am glad that the first reconnaissance vehicles will go here, to the Hrubieszowski Regiment, but on a daily basis they will also be used by soldiers commanded by the commander of the 18th Mechanized Division. This is the first batch of vehicles that goes to the Polish Army. The first 25 out of 118 vehicles are now being sent to soldiers who perform tasks at the border.

The vehicles are intended for soldiers of reconnaissance units of land forces. The first 25 vehicles will be included in the equipment:
2. Hrubieszowski Reconnaissance Regiment (18 vehicles);
9. Warmian Reconnaissance Regiment (5 vehicles);
Land Forces Training Center in Poznań (2 vehicles).

The subject of the contract concluded with Polski Holding Obronny and Concept in September 2017 is the delivery of a total of 118 LPU-1 Wirus vehicles. The vehicles delivered today will be used in the first place for tasks on the Polish-Belarusian border. The soldiers serving there will use them, inter alia, to conduct patrols in difficult terrain.

Minister Mariusz Błaszczak also thanked for the words of thanks and support that go to soldiers from all over Poland: "I am impressed by the service of the soldiers, but I would also like to emphasize the very good cooperation with the local community. It is extremely important that the soldiers have the support of the inhabitants of border areas, and this is what it is. (...) I also thank the soldiers from Estonia who serve in Poland -Belarusian border. We all stand behind the Polish uniform. It is important that the soldiers feel that their service is appreciated and noticed by Poles "
