French Army receives first 5,000 Glock 17 pistols and 150 FN SCAR-H PR precision rifles


This delivery is part of the 2019-2025 Military Programming Law which embodies the efforts "at human height" led by Florence Parly, Minister of the Armed Forces, in particular a broader desire to renew small equipment intended for the French forces.

The 5th Generation PSA Glock-17 FR replaces the PAMAC 50 and PAMAS G1. The new pistol is intended for use in the event of rapid action and the need for self-protection. With a caliber of 9 mm, the Glock-17 has a capacity of 17 rounds.

The FN Herstal FN SCAR-H PR precision rifle in 7.62x51 mm NATO caliber will replace the old FR-F2 in service with the French army since 1986


 The FN SCAR-H PR semi-automatic sniper rifle will succeed the FR-F2 rifle. It will equip the Army snipers, so that they can fulfill the following missions:
► Unit protection
► Observation
► Intelligence
► Neutralization of long range targets

With a caliber of 7.62x51 mm NATO caliber, the FN SCAR-H PR measures 102 cm for a weight of 6.75 kg in combat order with a magazine. The SCAR-H PR has a practical range of 800 meters. The FN SCAR-H PR precision rifle for the French Army will be delivered with Schmidt & Bender optics, sound suppressor, bipod, carrying bag and sets of accessories.

These first deliveries to the 14th BSMAT will allow the quality control of weapons, their inclusion in logistics management and their packaging before distribution in the forces. The 14th BSMAT is an industrial maintenance center specializing in electronics and weapons, providing support for the forces of the three services in operation on national territory as well as in external theaters.
