Ayman al-Zawahiri became Al-Qaeda’s chief following Osama bin Laden elimination in Pakistan on May 2, 2011, by U.S. Navy SEALs of the U.S. Naval Special Warfare Development Group (also known as DEVGRU or SEAL Team Six). Ayman al-Zawahiri was killed in a drone strike by the US in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul. A General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper drone operated by the CIA fired two Hellfire R9X missiles at his Kabul home. Pictures of the strike thus show no sign of an explosion and US officials say no one else was harmed.

The U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency on August 1 announced that the State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of the United Kingdom of Javelin Lightweight Command Launch Units (LWCLUs) for an estimated cost of $300 million.
