Indonesian 1st Marine Engineer Battalion trains to deploy Leguan MLC 70 mobile bridge


According to Defense Studies, the 1st Marine Engineer Battalion (Yon Zeni 1 Mar) keeps training on how to deploy a tactical bridge in an emergency. On August 23, they performed the operation at the Hartono Marine Corps camp, Cilandak, South Jakarta.

This LPK activity was led by Marine Lt. Dwi Budiyanto as Danton Zikon, and acting as Katim of material was Sergeant Mar Heri Sutarmo who gave theoretical lessons followed by hands-on practice to better understand the technical operation of the trained tactical bridges.

The Emergency Tactical Bridge taught this time is a folding bridge of the Leguan MLC 70 type. This German-made bridge has a span of 26 meters and can let pass vehicles weighing up to 70 tons. It was designed and developed by Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW), initially for the German Army. The fully automatic, electronically controlled Leguan bridge layer can be laid and rolled back on most of the terrains in about five minutes.

On the same occasion, Marine Lt. Col. Rudi Sutisna, M. Tr. Opsla., as the Commander of the 1st Marine Engineer Battalion (Mar 1 Engineer Danyon) said: "This equipment is the champion of the 1st Marine Engineer Yon, carry out the LPK seriously so that the ability of the engineer's combat assistance remains to be developed and maintained."
