SITDEF 2019: OTOKAR showcases Cobra 2 4x4 and Arma 8x8 armored vehicles


Turkish Company OTOKAR presents two types of wheeled armored vehicles at SITDEF 2019, the International Defense Exhibition, including the Cobra 2 and the Arma 8x8 armored personnel carrier. Otokar is one of the most important producers and manufacturer of wheeled and tracked armored vehicles in the world.

The Cobra II is a further development of the first version of the Cobra an APC (Armored Personnel Carrier) vehicle designed and produced by Turkish company Otokar. The vehicle was unveiled during the edition 2015 of IDEF defense exhibition in Istanbul, Turkey.

The OTOKAR Cobra II is a 4x4 wheeled armored vehicle that can accommodate nine military personnel including driver and commander. It features a high level of protection against ballistic and mine threats based on a monocoque hull structure.

Cobra II has an overall length of 5.6m, a width of 2.5m and height of 2.2m. The wheelbase and ground clearance of the vehicle are 3.5m and 400mm respectively, while the gross vehicle weight is 12,000kg. The roof of the vehicle can be fitted with different types of weapon systems that can be armed with a machine gun up to 12.7mm caliber.

The Cobra II is powered by a 6.7L, six-cylinder, water cooled, turbocharged, common rail, diesel engine mated to an automatic gearbox (six forward and one reverse). It can run at a maximum road speed of 110 km with a maximum cruising range of 700 km.

The Arma 8x8 is a new generation modular multi-wheel armored vehicle with superior tactical and technical features. Thanks to the modularity and highly protected armored monocoque hull design, ARMA 8x8 is a multipurpose platform allowing the integration of various types of mission equipment or weapon systems which can meet the current needs of the modern armies in real battlefield and peacemaking operations. The ARMA 8x8 is developed, designed and manufactured by the Turkish Company Otokar.

The ARMA can be fitted with manual or remotely operated weapon station that can be armed with a machine gun but also with cannon up to 105mm caliber.

The ARMA 8X8 has an 24,000 kg gross weight and carries a driver, commander and 10 personnel in its fully protected hull. This combat vehicle is transportable by rail, sea and air (C-130 and larger aircrafts).

The ARMA can provide a high level of protection against ballistic and mine threats by means of high hardness monocoque steel hull and all personnel is seated on individual mine protected seats.
