At the end of the 70s, various French manufacturers supplying police equipment were worried that they had limited commercial contacts at an international level. Contrary to the Aeronautics and Defence sectors, the Interior Security sector did not have a promotion and communications platform that matched its importance in France. As a result, the idea of organising a specific international exhibition took hold. EXPOL (EXposition POLice), the first private initiative, showed the way.

In 1984, the International Milipol Committee came to life as an association whose goal was the promotion of security technology and equipment.

That same year, the first international Milipol Show was organised in Paris as the principal information and public-relations tool, open widely to professionals in the field of security, including manufacturers, end-users, buyers and exhibitors of all nationalities. The quasi-confidential field of police, civil and military security equipment, virtually unknown to the general public until that time, was thus brought to light.

The Milipol Exhibition evolved within this climate of expectation and demand. It broadened out to include the field of security which encompasses private and public communities, that of industry and business, the protection of populations, and internal State security.

Today, the international Milipol Exhibition of Internal state security is recognised for as a result of its professionalism and the quality of its exhibitors and visitors attending from around the world, all from the various security sectors.

Since 2005 the MSPO exhibition has been accompanied by National Exhibitions which are the showcase for the defence industry of particular countries. Until now Germany, France, Israel, the USA, Sweden, the V4 Group Countries and Great Britain have presented their military potentials.

The Exhibition of the Polish Armed Forces complemented with dynamic presentations have become an indispensable element of the MSPO Exhibition.

For a number of years the MSPO Exhibition has been organised under the auspices of the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Treasury, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education as well as the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland. Following the previous years’ example the 2013 MSPO edition will also encompass the meeting of the deputy ministers representing the Ministries of National Defence, Economy, Treasury with Polish defence industry sector representatives. The best products put on display at the MSPO will be granted with the annual Award of the RP President as well as with the Defender Awards and Special Commendations of particular Ministries.

Brazil will host the 9th edition of LAAD Defence & Security, Defence and Security International Exhibition at Riocentro, Rio De Janeiro from April 09 to April 12, 2013.

The biennial exhibition - the leading exhibition for the defence sector in Latin America - will bring together Brazilian and international companies that specialise in supplying equipment, services and technology to the armed forces, police and special forces, security services, consultants and government agencies.
